CVT Transmission:

What drives us?  Besides safety, Subaru has developed the Continuosly Variable Transmission (CVT for short) to drive our Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system in the Outback, Legacy and starting in the 2012 model year the Impreza.

The CVT transmission unlike traditional automatics with gears does not use gears to drive the engine.  This allows the engine to run in it's optimal rev range for higher efficiency.
